Ohmapi is officially a “homeschool enrichment program”. This intentionally gives the program, and the families enrolled, quite a bit of autonomy in our approach to helping kids learn. The Ohmapi Nature Project provides parents of Nevada County an alternative and unique educational resource.

Nature is the Norm

Spending frequent and ample time in nature, children absorb the natural rhythms, patterns and cycles of the natural world and intuitively apply a nature based understanding to the world around them.

Low Student to Instructor Ratio

A 7:1 student to instructor ratio gives us the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with our participants and establish necessary connections for learning.

Our Goal:

To help the children and parents of Nevada County by providing an alternative educational resource where children can maximize their time outdoors and learn in a holistic manner.

"My nine year old daughter entered The Ohmapi Nature Project last year and even though the World was in crisis-mode, one would have never known about the fares of the Globe once they stepped foot into the "classroom" that Dawn created.

Dawn and Macy made 2021 a Joyous and memorable year for not only my daughter, but for me as well. As a parent, it was comforting to know that my child would be held in a sacred space which would encourage: optimal learning, self-respect and respect of others, creative imaginative play, and a strong synergistic holistic approach to education.

Dawn's well thought out curriculum, detailed teaching skills, as well as her positive, confidence building mentorship style, allowed my daughter to blossom during a time when it was most needed.

Dawn and Macy made such an impact in Kaila's life. She left Ohmapi Nature Project a more confident, assertive, appreciative and balanced human with a deep reverence for all living things and a new found Love for Math!

I highly recommend this school. Dawn's guidance and genuine presence fosters an environment for students to be their Best Selves."
